Welcome to our campaign page.

Dear Neighbor,

As a valued member of our community, I’m writing to introduce myself to you, and to ask for your support in my desire to serve you as your District 4 Trustee on the Dallas ISD Board. As you may know, our current trustee, Nancy Bingham, has decided not to seek re-election to the Board. She served our District well, and I would be honored to continue her exemplary service for the residents, parents, and students of District 4.

My passion for quality education in Dallas Public Schools began when I was 17 years old. In 2009, as a senior at Booker T. Washington High School, I led the effort to save the Magnet Schools from significant budget cuts. Since then, I have continued my advocacy for students in DISD. A few years ago, I successfully fought against Home Rule Charter to prevent a takeover of our public schools by the Dallas political and business establishment. Last year, I advocated for accountability and transparency during the Bond election. And, for the past three years I have stood firm against Superintendent Mike Miles’ disproven and experimental policies such as testing students in kindergarten and basing teacher salaries upon a random and unfair system of teacher performance. It is time for us to chart a new course for DISD.

Dallas ISD afforded me a unique opportunity to graduate from a nationally-recognized, first class Magnet high school. I’m running for Trustee so that ALL students in DISD will have the same opportunity for an exemplary education.

As your District 4 Trustee, I will initiate the following:

Do away with over testing

Increase After School Programs

Establish K-8 Community School Programs serving entire communities

Oppose taxpayer-funded private school vouchers and the expansion of charter schools

Attract, support, and retain highly qualified teachers

Eliminate Teacher Pay for Performance

Push for school repairs

Oversee responsible expenditure of $1.6B in Bond funds

I’m passionate about public education. I will bring an objective and independent mindset to the Board to create positive, workable and lasting change that will benefit ALL students in DISD. Please feel free to contact me anytime at (469) 221-9803 with any questions you may have about my candidacy or platform. I would be honored to receive your support and vote.

Warm Regards,

Omar Jimenez

Candidate for Dallas ISD Board of Trustees, District 4
